"This man kills me"

Reconstructing the Empire's memory / Reconstruyendo la memoria del Imperio

Two evenings of art, words, and music commenting on the connections between the two 911s in the making of the Empire.Workspace San Francisco

Chewing Gum

Concept:
Exploring what one chew when you chew gum. Many times you create a rhythm when you're thinking, and thoughts are formed. Many times, the bubbles are flashes of ideas which burst. How many emotions are pressed together by your teeth some 500,00 times on a pieces of gum? How many dreams are savored until they're left in anonymity in a rejected sour piece of gum. You pick the flowers, the colors-you seek consistency. You chew with sensuality of the accumulation of emotions. they are recreated by you, with your fingers, warm and mobile.

You create ideas to the rhythm of the movement of your jaw. You mix thoughts along with saliva, anxiety, cholera, happiness. Illusions that you complete by chewing, over and over again that piece of gum, which once old and disposed, will be left behind, on the trail of your thoughts, under the table of your dreams, or simply will be tossed out the window of your emotions.

You dream, creating huge bubbles, sonorous, small.

You fill with happiness that small piece of gum and then...

"WHAT DO YOU CHEW WHEN YOU CHEW THE GUM, WHAT DO YOU GET RID OF WHEN YOU GET RID OF THE GUM"

Irreciclable/Unrecyclable

Irreciclable/Unrecyclable

This installation was done on 24 street and Mission. It is a conceptual and visual sample that seeks to explore, through various elements, what we leave behind when we cross borders, referring not only to geographical ones but also to our own borders, which get displaced when cultural, social and language changes invade our lives.

This installation was part of the 2004 “Borderland” project.

Remendando Corazones/ Mending Hearts at SomArts for Day of the Dead, 2006

Somarts is a space in San Francisco dedicated to art.
The "Day of the Dead" was celebrated with an impressive amount of artists.
This day never fails to amaze me, especially within the Mexican culture. The color, the happiness, and how each performance is conceptualized with great emotion.

With Adrian we had the opportunity of presenting a performance which was a celebration to our grandmothers. We made ceviche, and mended hearts while we shared stories, sorrows, and happiness.
In this process we mended our pains that which is borne from the loss of
individuals whose marvelous presence we were fortunate enough to have in our lives.

We all mend hearts. When we love honestly, and what we do; our lives, our friends, the earth, and the art of expressing our talents to the universe.

Frontera de Cuerpo/ Frontier of the Body

The benefit of our footprints; perhaps briefly pause, read them, and find them again, along with our past; ancestors and history. I believe that through this process we would be capable to deeply inhale our truth.
